German FM, Abbas, Hamas in Cairo for talks
Diplomatic efforts to end the fighting in the Gaza Strip are underway in Cairo Saturday. The German Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, is expected to meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and the Palestinian Authority's Mahmoud Abbas on an Egypt-sponsored initiative to end the fighting.
Separately, officials from the militant group Hamas which controls the Gaza Strip are slated to meet with Egyptian officials as well. (AP)
