Olmert apologizes to UN chief for UNRWA compound strike

Following the Israeli shelling of the UNRWA compound in Gaza on Thursday, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, "This is a sad incident, and I apologize for it, but our forces were attacked from there and the response was harsh.
"We did not wish for such an incident to happen, and I don't know if you are aware of this, but Hamas attacked from within the UNRWA building during our humanitarian pause in Gaza," he said. (Roni Sofer)
