Domino's launches pizza tracking service

American pizza chain's Israel stores offer new service: Customers can now keep an eye on pizza's location from moment order is placed up until delivery

There is nothing quite as annoying as waiting for your pizza to arrive after making an order. Domino's Pizza in the United Sates has come up with a solution for this problem, and it is now available in Israel as well – an online pizza tracking service.

The exclusive service, called Domino's Pizza Tracker, allows customers to follow their pizza's progress at any point in time, from the moment the order is placed, through to preparation time, oven time, and from the moment it hits the road on its way to the hungry consumer's house.

Tracking the pizza's location is made possible thanks to the system that presents a five-phase scale in the pizza's life cycle. The first phase is when the order is placed, next is the preparation phase, then comes the baking phase.

In the fourth phase, the customer gets a report that the pizza is being placed in the box, and in the fifth phase, consumers get word that their food is in the delivery person's hands and on its way.

Customers will be able to follow their pizza through the chain's Israel website, similar to the American version.

The number of the order has to be entered in order to check on the pie's location. According to the tracker's scale, the pizza is supposed to arrive at the customer's house within 30, with baking and delivery being the longest phases.

The service was first launched in the US last year, and the scope of the investment in applying the service in Israel is estimated at about NIS 200,000 (about $50,000).

All 28 Domino's stores will offer the new service, whether the order is placed over the phone or through the internet.
