UN General Assembly pres. refrains from attending Int'l Holocaust Day service
UN General Assembly President Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann did not attend the UN service marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
D'Escoto is known for his harsh criticism of Israel. His decision was reportedly made following the request of several Jewish groups in the US. The service began with a moment of silence. (Yitzhak Benhorin, Washington)
