Foreign Ministry: Palestinians must recognize Israel as Jewish state
The Foreign Affairs Ministry issued a response to the statements made by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in which he said the Palestinians would not recognize Israel as a Jewish state.
"Recognition of Israel as the sovereign state of the Jewish people is a crucial and necessary step in the historic reconciliation process between Israel and the Palestinians. The sooner the Palestinians internalize this basic and material fact, the sooner there will be peace between the two peoples," the ministry said. (Roni Sofer)
