UN envoy to Mideast deplores Gaza's slow recovery
UN Official in the Mideast Robert Serry toured Gaza and issued a strong statement about the coastal
area's hardships and slow reconstruction following Israel's January offensive.
He noted a shortage of construction materials because of a blockade imposed by Israel and Egypt on the region's Hamas-led regime. Serry's statement says "better access is crucial" for the reconstruction to take off, but acknowledged the goods must be used "in a manner that would ensure" the supplies be "only used for their intended purposes.
