Nasrallah taunts Egypt: You've only made us stronger

Hizbullah secretary general slams Egypt's campaign against his organization, attacks President Mubarak's conduct during Israel's operation in Gaza

Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah used his televised speech Friday evening to respond once more to Egypt's accusations that his organization is trying to topple the regime in Cairo.

Without going into detail, Nasrallah thanked Egypt for the negative campaign its leaders have been waging since Egyptian security forces arrested Hizbullah-linked terror cells within its borders.

"The crisis with Egypt, which erupted three weeks ago, began with a media campaign starring the Egyptian regime – aided by other elements in the Arab world. Today we are witnessing a media war and a political war being waged by one side – the Egyptian regime. Hizbullah has not entered the media or political arena with the Egyptian regime," Nasrallah said.

Nasrallah also responded to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's recent attacks against him: "What has the Egyptian regime gained from its campaign against Hizbullah? The Egyptian regime has not gained anything from this campaign. They failed to tar the face of Hizbullah."

The Hizbullah secretary-general criticized Mubarak's decisions during Israel's military operation against Hamas in Gaza. "At that time I heard the Egyptian president warning about the wrath of his country. At that time we hoping to see Egypt's wrath as thousands of Palestinians in Gaza were murdered, and Gaza was abandoned."

Nasrallah rejected Egypt's accusations regarding the terror cells: "We did not organize things in Egypt, we did not harm its security or police or its stability. Everything is to help the Palestinian resistance."

He also thanked all those who defended Hizbullah in the Arab world since the arrest of the cells, especially within Egypt. Nasrallah added that there were efforts to help reconcile the situation.

"If you want to continue your campaign, that is your business, but it will not benefit you," Nasrallah said, directing his words at Cairo. "You have done us a great service with this campaign, we thank you. We won't explain it now, but the things will be known soon."
