Bibi-Abdullah meeting in works

Prime Minister Netanyahu may meet with Jordan's King Abdullah after scheduled meeting with Egypt's Mubarak; in talk with Ynet, senior source confirms 'intention to hold such meeting before PM's trip to White House'

Israeli and Jordanian representatives are working on arranging a meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Jordan's King Abdullah this coming week, Ynet has learned.

A senior source confirmed an "intention to hold such meeting before the prime minister's trip to the White House." According to another source, the meeting is planned for Wednesday, but the report has not been confirmed.

Jordan's Ambassador to Israel, Ali al-Ayed has spent the weekend in Amman, in a move that may be related to the expected meeting. Meanwhile, a Jordanian source confirmed that Jordan's prime minister recently discussed the possibility of a meeting between the Hashemite king and Israel's PM.

Jordan's king was the first Middle Eastern leader who met with US President Barack Obama in the White House. King Abdullah called on Arab states and the Muslim world to assist the US in advancing the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

The Jordanian leader said resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was the key to solving all the region's problems, adding "it can only happen if there is an American umbrella with a determined American president that is going to get the Israelis and Palestinians to sit on the table."

"Both sides historically have always come up with an excuse why not to go the last mile. And I believe that Obama understands how much this resonates," King Abdullah said at the time.

Netanyahu is also scheduled to meet Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak next week. The meeting has been set for Monday.
