Pope Benedict XVI became the Tuesday first pope to enter the mosque of the Dome of the Rock on the Esplanade des mosque, third holiest site in Islam, in East Jerusalem.
The pope was greeted at the entrance of the mosque by the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Mohammed Hussein. (AFP)
