Assaf Goldring, who allegedly strangled
his three-year-old daughter to death two and a half weeks ago, is fit to stand trial, according to a psychiatric evaluation. The police are expected to inform the Ramla Magistrate's Court on Tuesday of their plan to file charges against him.
Goldring has not spent one day in prison since allegedly committing the murder. Following his arrest, he was hospitalized in several psychiatric hospitals in order to examine whether he was fit to stand trial. The most recent test took more than a week and a half to complete.
Immediately after his arrest, Goldring confessed to committing the crime. He was not interrogated while under observation at the psychiatric hospitals, but the police continued questioning his relatives and friends.
On Tuesday, Goldring will be brought before the Ramla Magistrate's Court, which will be asked by the police to extend his remand once again on suspicion of murder.
The father's defense line is expected to be "insanity" due to taking pills which led him to commit the murder.
