State official: Germany important in attempt to release Shalit
A senior Israeli official who landed with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Berlin said that "Germany carries a lot of weight in the attempts to further the release of Gilad Shalit, and we commend its involvement".
The prime minister and his entourage refused to provide details on the kidnapped soldier, but Netanyahu said that "as in all my meetings with heads of state, I will raise the subject of Gilad Shalit". (Roni Sofer, Berlin)
