PM: Israel never set preconditions for resumed negotiations
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu updated cabinet ministers during a government meeting regarding his European visit and stated, "Israel has never set obstacles or preconditions for resuming political talks. The Palestinians, however do it frequently."
"I have made it clear for Chancellor Merkel and Prime Minister Brown that acknowledging the State of Israel is a condition. That is the reason the dispute began and is the reason it carries on. The Palestinian side is asking us to recognize a nation-state of its own and we are willing to do so, and yet they are unwilling to recognize the Jewish people's nation-state," Netanyahu said.
