Several Palestinians were injured Tuesday afternoon from IDF artillery fire at east Gaza City. Palestinian sources said at least seven shells were fired at a group of civilians and that one of them sustained critical wounds.

Muawiya Hassanein, the head of Gaza emergency services, said the IDF was not allowing rescue services to reach the scene of the incident to evacuate the victims.

The IDF has yet to comment on the report.

The IDF shooting came after the al-Qaeda-affiliated group Ansar al-Sunnah claimed responsibility for sniper shots fired at an IDF soldier near the border fence earlier Tuesday.

The IDF reported the shots were fired at workers carrying out infrastructure work near the border fence.

The last attack in the Gaza Strip took place Saturday.

Israel Air Force jets hit a building used as weapons' manufacturing facility near Gaza City. In addition, two arms smuggling tunnels were bombed in the southern Gaza Strip.

There were no reports of Palestinain casualties in either incident.

Saturday's attacks came after two Qassam rockets were fired at the western Negev on the eve of Sukkot.

Both rockets exploded in open areas within the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council. No one was injured and no damage was caused.
