Disengagement Authority to change its name

Sela Authority wants to becomeits name to 'Tnufa', says will help promote conceptual change among evacuees, general public

The SELA Disengagement Authority, which assists settlers evacuated from Gaza and northern Samaria, will be changing its name to Tnufa (Hebrew for "momentum.")

The name change will be discussed Sunday during the weekly cabinet meeting.

According to the proposed bill, "in order to promote a conceptual change, the issue of helping the evacuees rebuild their lives must be revived.

"The change must be implemented within the government ministries, stressing the urgency of evacuees' issues, and putting their interests on top of the priority list, while changing the perception among evacuees and the general public."

As part of its plan to "imbue the issue with a new spirit", the bill suggests "changing the authority's name to 'Tnufa Authority'. The name change will signal the start of a new phase in the process of rebuilding the evacuees' lives, in which all sides will act with their utmost efforts to end the process as quickly as possible.

In addition, in order to maintain continuity of all the actions initiated by the Authority, the bill suggests "replacing the name 'Sela' with the new name everywhere it has been listed as such, including in official government decisions."
