Assad: US must promote peace, but Israel not partner
Syrian President Bashar Assad called upon the US to take an active roll in the Middle East peace process during a Damascus meeting with a member of the US Congress.
The official Syrian news agency reported that Assad entreated Washington "to ensure regional peace is achieved," but said that the Israelis currently are not a true partner for peace. (AFP)
