A senior Hamas official has rejected claims that his organization would soon declare talks for kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit a failure.
"The declaration of the deal having failed means the end of the German mediator's office, and this is not in anybody's interest," he said in an interview with the London-based Al-Hayat. He added that despite difficulties in the talks, "the German mediator has not yet fulfilled his function, so we cannot declare them a failure". (Roee Nahmias)
