Brazil's Lula arrives in Israel, will meet PM, Peres
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva landed in Israel Sunday evening and was welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom.
Shalom said the Brazilian president is a true friend of Israel, and called on Brazil to assist Israel in facing the Iranian nuclear threat and advancing the peace process. Shalom also invited the president to take part in the project to connect the Dead Sea with the Mediterranean. Da Silva is expected to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres during his visit. (Roni Sofer)
