Sarkozy: Europe took oath for Israel's security after WWII
President Shimon Peres met with his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy Thursday and discussed with him the Iranian nuclear issue and the resumption of peace talks with the Palestinians.
Sarkozy described his commitment to Israel's security as an oath taken by Europe after WWII. Peres said that France has demonstrated active commitment towards Israel throughout history and that he expects it to play a central role in the peace process and in international efforts to prevent Iran from achieving nuclear capability.
