Pope on sexual abuse scandal: Church wounded by our sins

Pope Benedict, starting a trip to Malta overshadowed by the sexual abuse scandal sweeping Roman Catholicism, said on Saturday that the Church had been "wounded by our sins."

But while the Vatican spokesman said this was a reference to the abuse scandal, Benedict, speaking to reporters aboard his plane, did not specifically mention it nor did he use the word abuse. (Reuters)
