Israel will hold commission of inquiry with foreign observer

The seven-minister forum discussed the possibility that Israel will create a commission of inquiry of its own to investigate the events of the takeover of the Gaza-bound flotilla. The commission will include senior legalists with expertise in international and naval law and will be attended by one or two foreign observers.

Until now, no official announced has been made regarding Israel's inquiry plans. Israel rejected an offer Sunday made by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to hold a commission of inquiry led by a former New Zealand prime minister. It also rejected a Human Rights Commission resolution to hold an independent investigation similar to the Goldstone commission. (Roni Sofer)
