PM: Palestinians unwilling to start direct talks with Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused the Palestinians with being unwilling to start peace talks. "Why are there only proximity talks? There is no willingness on the part of the Palestinian Authority to enter direct talks. I say to Abu Mazen (Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas): 'There is no way to solve the conflict without direct discussion.'"

In his statement, Netanyahu referenced statements made by Kadima members who claimed that a peace agreement can only be achieved by a unity government. He said, "You do not need to be the member of a certain party in order to want peace." (Amnon Meranda)
