Erekat: Jerusalem construction proves Israel forgoing negotiations
Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat attacked Israel's decision to build hundreds of housing units in Jerusalem, saying that "the decision proves that Israel chose the settlement path over the negotiation path."
According to Erekat, the Israeli government carries full responsibility for the failure of the direct talks, as the recent arrests and raids on Palestinian towns prove that Israel does not promote an atmosphere supportive of a peace process.
