IDF delays 4 Palestinian firefighters at border
Four Palestinian firefighters, who assisted the Carmel blaze extinguishing efforts, were officially invited to visit the Head of the Usfiya Council Waji Cayouf. At first they were not permitted by the IDF forces to enter Israel, reported a Palestinian Civil Defense official. The Israeli Civil Administration claimed they were delayed due to problems with their papers.
Knesset Member Ahmad Tibi (United Arab List-Ta'al), who organized the event, decided to cancel it in protest. "Authorities refused to permit the four Palestinian firefighters to enter Israel for security reasons, and the permits were given only to seven firefighters. It's a disgrace."
