Palestinians say 1 killed in Gaza strike; Israel denies report

Palestinian sources in Gaza said one person was killed and two others were wounded as a result of an explosion in Gaza City's Zeitun neighborhood. According to some reports, the three were hit by Israeli artillery fire, but other reports say the explosion was caused by a dud found by the Palestinians as they were collecting gravel.

The IDF said it had not launched an attack on Gaza and estimated that the explosion occurred during a failed attempt to launch a rocket toward Israel. Those who were hurt in the blast are apparently members of Islamic Jihad. (Elior Levy)
