Japan: More than 25,000 people dead or missing in quake

Japanese police said on Wednesday that more than 25,000 people are confirmed dead or missing in the earthquake and tsunami that devastated northeastern Japan earlier this month.

Police said that 9,487 deaths were confirmed and 15,617 people were officially reported missing, a total of 25,104. A total of 2,755 people were injured in the disaster. (AFP)
