High Court outlaws sex segregation partitions in haredi area

The High Court of Justice has forbidden the establishment of fences and partitions and the placement of private supervisors to enforce sex segregation at Jerusalem's Mea Shearim neighborhood.

The judges ruled in favor of Rachel Azaria, a Jerusalem council member who petitioned the court to put an end to a sex segregation trend that has grown prevalent in the haredi neighborhood during holidays. The court ordered the appointment of a special liaison between the police and the residents to address complaints concerning the issue. (Aviad Glickman)
