'End of prisoners' hunger strike near'
Deal that will end Palestinian prisoners' hunger strike said to be closer, as Jerusalem sources say Israel interested in 'mollifying mood' in prisons
Despite reports suggesting that the Palestinian prisoners' hunger strike may soon end, official Jerusalem sources told Ynet Monday that no agreement on the matter has been reached.
An Egyptian official said Sunday that the 1,550 Palestinian prisoners who have been refusing food for the past 26 days may soon end their protest.

The official said that Egypt has put forth a drafted proposal to that effect, which still needed to be approved by the prisoners.
Political sources told Ynet that Israel is interested in pursuing such an agreement as means of mollifying what has been described as the "heated mood" among Palestinian prisoners held in the Jewish state.
Negotiations to that effect are ongoing in several avenues, the sources said.
Meanwhile, the London-based Arabic newspaper Al-Hayat said Israeli and Hamas officials held indirect talks in Cairo last week.
According to the report, Hamas' delegation was headed by Ahmed Jabari, head of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades.
The exact nature of the talks remains unclear, but the paper ventured that they focused on various understandings reached as part of the Shalit deal.
