Israel has launched its first ever international "green" campaign, meant to promote the nation's achievements in the field of environmental technology. The campaign, put together by the Prime Minister's Office, Foreign Ministry and Environmental Protection Ministry, includes an international ad campaign, which is set to air, among others, on international TV networks such as CNN. Rio+20 is the largest environmental summit in the world, with over 50,000 participants. The campaign will see "green Israel" ads run along CNN International weather reports over the next two weeks. The ads stress that fact that Israel is a leader in the development of green technology and that Israeli innovations in the field are used the world over. Environmental Protection Minister Gilad Erdan is heading the Israeli mission to Rio+20, which also included government officials, private, public and third sector delegates. "Israel makes the groundbreaking environmental technologies we develop available to the world," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said. "The campaign aims to present the world with Israel's great greentech capabilities." Minister Erdan added: "Israel can supply solutions to some of the challenges the world faces today, such as food and water shortages. The campaign raises awareness to Israel as a greentech leader." A Foreign Ministry statement said that its increased involvement in Rio+20 is "part of its efforts to bolster global agendas within Israeli foreign policy." According to the Foreign Ministry "Israel aspires to share its knowledge, experience and innovative technology with the world, in the spirit of friendship, as well as a strategic political tool."
