UN envoy visits site of Myanmar ethnic clashes

A UN human rights envoy went to western Myanmar on Tuesday to investigate communal violence in which at least 78 people were killed and tens of thousands lost their homes.

 

Tomas Ojea Quintana's evaluation is likely to be regarded as a yardstick for measuring the reforms undertaken by elected President Thein Sein after Myanmar ended decades of repressive military rule. (AP)
