Intelligence chief James Clapper is warning that Europe's financial crisis could lead to social unrest. He says that austerity poses the greatest risk to social stability on the continent.
In his annual assessment of global threats to the United States, Clapper said in prepared testimony to lawmakers that the likelihood of a breakup of the euro currency has faded over the last year because of steps by the European Union to strengthen its banking system. But the crisis has not passed. (AP)
