State to recompense Bedouin injured in military zone

The Beersheba District Court ruled that the State will recompense a Bedouin resident from the Negev who was injured when a rocket dud exploded in a military zone close to the Shivta training base in 2003, with NIS 853,000 ($235,000).

The court, which forced the State, the Defense Ministry and the Israel Land Administration to pay damages, determined that the Defense Ministry was negligent in maintaining the fire practice area and that it did not take the necessary measures to protect the civilian population.
