The pilot episode of the multi-camera comedy series, which will be called "Divorce: A Love Story," will be shot this weekend. The show will be produced by ABC Studios, Sony Pictures Television, Israeli producer Noa Tishby and Reshet, the Israeli company behind the format.
Dick first became known to the public eye in the early 1990s on "The Ben Stiller Show" on the Fox Network. Since then, he appeared on David Letterman's show on CBS and starred on his own program, "The Andy Dick Show," on MTV for three seasons. He is currently a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars."
Dick, 47, who will play the role portrayed by actor Motti Katz in the Israeli version, will be joining a cast which already includes actors Jason Jones, Andrea Anders and Adam Goldberg.
The new series, based on the successful Israeli format which aired on Channel 2 for nine seasons, follows a couple which discovers it cannot function together or apart after getting divorced.
The series was initially sold to CBS about a year ago, but after the network decided to drop it, it was purchased by ABC. Daniel Lappin, who created the Israeli series, will write the American version as well alongside "Friends" writer Mike Sikowitz.
