Erekat: Israel has 'obligation' to retreat to 1967 borders
Chief Palestinian Negotiator Saeb Erekat said Israel must retreat to the borders of 1967 and halt settlement construction. He said those represented not preconditions but rather obligations.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum meeting, Erekat was asked about a statement by President Shimon Peres to the effect that most Israelis support the withdrawal to the borders of 1967. Erekat replied that it is the government, rather than the president, who is responsible for policymaking in Israel. (Roi Kais)
