Istanbul: Protesters disperse, police remain on high alert

The AFP's reporter in Istanbul has reported that protesters have dispersed from different sites around the city after a long night of clashes with police forces. Throughout the city, police forces have peen stationed, armed with tear gas and riot control equipment, in anticipation of additional protests.

Friday saw numerous people injured as Turkish citizens took to the streets to protest Erdogan-government policies. A decision to destroy a local park in favor of a business center sparked the protest. (AFP)
