Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef Shas candidate for Chief Rabbi
Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef has decided that his son Yitzhak would be a candidate for the position Sephardi Chief Rabbi. Yosef asked Shas chairman Aryeh Deri to act on his behalf at a meeting for the selection of rabbis candidates.
Another son of Yosef, the rabbi of Holon, Avraham Hanhashav, was considered the preferred candidate by his father, but was forced to pull himself from the running following a police investigation in his background. (Kobi Nachshoni)
