Peres on poverty report: 'What kind of nation are we?'
President Shimon Peres said Tuesday that he felt awful after hearing about the poverty in the country. "I feel very bad that there are more than 800,000 hungry children in Israel. What kind of nation are we? If we don't take immediate measures, the next president will see the same stats."
Peres recommended implementing a NIS 300 million ($85 million) program to give necessary food for all children until age three. (Omri Efraim)
