Assad: 'Significant' chance I'll seek new term
Syria's President Bashar Assad told AFP in an exclusive interview there is a "significant" chance he will stand in presidential elections expected this June, despite opposition demands that he step down.
"I see no reason why I shouldn't stand… (if) there is public desire," he said. "In short, we can say that the chances for my candidacy are significant." (AFP)
