Kenyan wins fourth annual Jerusalem Marathon

25,000 ran through Jerusalem's streets Friday as part of city's annual marathon. Kenyan Ronald Kimeli Kurgat sets record, takes race.

The fourth Jerusalem Winner Marathon took place in the capital on Friday, leading main arteries to close, but also injecting the city with adrenaline. Roughly 25,000 runners participated in the marathon, which passed through parts of Jerusalem's Old City.

 

 

Ronald Kimeli Kurgat, 28, from Kenya, took the race, setting a new record of 2:16:09. The second and third places were taken by his fellow country men. Second place Patrick Wachira Muriuki, 24, trailed Kurgat by only 26 seconds, while Luka Kipkemoi Chelimo took third with a time of 2:18:08.
