Egypt said planning to relocate Rafah residents ahead of military operation

The Egyptian authorities are planning to "redistribute" people living along the border with Gaza in divided town of Rafah, according to the pan-Arab newspaper Al-Hayat. 

A senior official told the newspaper that the plan is for the "redistribution" of residents and not their "transfer", and is being implemented for security reasons ahead of an extensive military operation in the area.

The plan will reportedly affect residents of some 680 homes.
