Cold weather will continue in Israel on Saturday as more occasional rainfall is predicted. Most of the substantial rain will be in northern parts of Israel. There is also a chance of flooding in the Dead Sea area and in the Judean Desert, with strong winds in the south. On Tuesday next week, Mount Hermon is expected to see the first snowfall of the season.
Meteorologist Tzachi Waxman of the Meteo-Tech company said that on Saturday, about 3-10 mm of rain fell in Israel up until the early afternoon hours. In the Kfar Hayarok area, between Tel Aviv and Ramat Hasharon, 20 mm of rain fell within a short time period.
In the afternoon hours, rain fell mostly in the north and center of Israel, accompanied by strong gusts of wind.
Rain showers will continue Saturday night, but will decrease in frequency. Temperatures are expected to drop significantly.
On Tuesday, Mount Hermon is expected to receive the first snowfall of the year. Temperatures will continue to fall and will be lower than average for the season.
