3 dead, 7 injured in multi-vehicle accident near Jerusalem

Three vehicles including commercial van involved in fatal accident on Route 356.

Three Palestinians died in a multi-vehicle accident Sunday night when three Israeli- and Palestinian-owned vehicles collided on route 356 that connects Jerusalem to Tekoa. The accident involved a transportation vehicle, a commercial vehicle, and a personal vehicle.

 

 

Seven people were wounded – an Israeli who was lightly injured and taken to Shaare Zedek Hospital, and six Palestinians who were treated by the Red Crescent.

An inspector from the Judea and Samaria Area District's traffic division arrived at the scene and opened an investigation. Two firefighter companies rushed to the scene and rescued four of the injured from their vehicles

.

Paramedics described the scene. "In the delivery van's passenger seat, there was a man who was about 50, who was trapped and unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing. We tried to give him medical treatment but his wounds were too severe and we had to pronounce him dead.

 

"Under the van, which was completely destroyed, there was another man, about 50, who was pronounced dead after lengthy rescue efforts," they said.

 

Monday afternoon an 18-year-old pedestrian was critically injured when she was hit by a car next to Kibbutz Negba in the north Negev. Paramedics brought her to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.

 

Additionally, a 60-year-old pedestrian was critically injured by a truck on Highway 2 near Netanya. Paramedics too him to Hillel Yafe Medical Center in Hadera.
