US experts report successful trial of Ebola vaccine
Experts from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in the US reported on Thursday that an experimental Ebola vaccine for humans was successful. The vaccine was tested on 20 patients after successful tests with monkeys.
No adverse effects were described in the first phase of the experiment and the vaccine created enough antibodies that protect against the virus. A second phase of the trial will more accurately examine the vaccine's degree of effectiveness.
