Likud hits back at Lieberman: He is willing to join Herzog, votes to right will go to left

The Likud party hit back at Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's leadership on Saturday, saying Israel did not take the imitative in the summer war in Gaza, but rather "dragged along."

"Netanyahu ran Operation Protective Edge with decisiveness and responsibly, along with the defense minister and IDF chief of staff, and was not dragged into different strange suggestions," the party said in response. "The operation was run out of an overarching policy of maintaining the state's security and safeguarding the lives of civilians and soldiers."

"Lieberman's statements that he is willing to sit in a government led by Herzog proves that voting for Lieberman could send votes from the right to the left and bring to the establishment of a left-wing government," the party's statement went on to say. "It's clear that anyone who wants a strong and wide government led by Netanyahu, which is based on the right and right-center blocs, needs to vote for Likud led by Netanyahu."
