Police suspect a group of youths and teenagers attacked two homeless men in an abandoned building near a gas station in Jaffa on Friday. According to the suspicion, a 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy arrived at the abandoned building and threw stones at the homeless men, which resulted in serious injuries.
Officers of the Yiftach District Police chased the youths and arrested them. The two were in possession of a wallet belonging to another homeless man staying at the building. They admitted involvement in the incident and are suspected of aggravated battery.
The suspects will be brought for a discussion on the extension of their detention later Saturday evening. Police said that other youths were involved in the incident and that additional arrests are expected. The incident took place in an abandoned building used as a car wash facility.
Oded Shinkman, a Magen David Adom paramedic, said: "We found two adults between the ages of 50 and 60 who suffered from bruises all over their bodies, bleeding, and were unconscious. We gave them medical treatment on the scene and respiratory assistance. One of them suffered head trauma and was evacuated to the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center. The other individual was taken to the Wolfson Medical Center in Holon."
The condition of the victim hospitalized at Wolfson is currently stable. He sustained several fractures and has been admitted to the hospital's surgical unit.
