Just last week few people would have believed that Israel's national basketball team would have made it to the Eurobasket 1/8th finals.
The blues and whites were pitted against the French in a fight for the first place in the bracket, which would promise them to lead the bracket.
The loss positioned Israel in second place, and its next game will be held on the eve of Rosh Hashanah.
The dressing room featured all smiles after Wednesday's game against Poland, which Israel won by a slim but dramatic margin of two points, ending with a final score of 75/73.
Even before entering the competition the team's main goal was to move into a higher bracket, something which has not happened since 2007.
But tonight things were a little bit more complicated when facing a host which has yet to loose during the competition. Israel played without Gal Mekel, who injured his knee, as well as Omri Casspi and Lior Eliyahu – neither of whom is feeling 100%.
The game ended in a disheartening 86/61 placing Israel on track to play its next game against Italy on the eve of Rosh Hashana.
