Wanted stabbing attacker in Palestinian custody

Sources inform Ynetnews alleged assailaint turned himself into Palestinian security forces after video confession circulates on social media.

The perpetrator who fled the scene of a stabbing attack that seriously wounded a 40-year-old Israeli in the West Bank's Sha'ar Binyamin on Friday, turned himself into Palestinian security forces, sources told Ynetnews Saturday morning.

The suspect was said to have been arrested and in custody of the Palestinian Preventive Security Force.

It seems likely that the individual referred to by the Palestinians sources is the same young man who claimed responsibility for the attack in a video posted to social media on Friday afternoon.

In the video, the man identified himself as Baraa Issa, a resident of Jerusalem or possibly one of the outlying neighborhoods, and claimed to be an operative of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, the military wing of Fatah, the political party headed by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Despite his claims to Fatah allegiance, Isa also said that he had not been ordered to carry out the attack and did not receive organizational help.

Issa appears in the video standing before Fatah flags and the confession seems to have been filmed before the attack judging by his language, which suggests he believed he would be killed in the act.

The suspected assailant said in the video that the attack was in order to defend Jerusalem's al-Aqsa Mosque and occupied Palestinian territory.

The incident at the Sha'ar Binyamin Industrial Zone near Ramallah was the second of four attacks that occurred on Friday, including two shooting incidents in the area of Hebron.

Four Israelis were wounded in total on Friday.
