Wife of Duma arson suspect: 'He was at home with me'

The wife of one of the suspects arrested in connection with the arson that claimed the lives of three members of the Dawabsheh claims that her husband could not have been involved; according to her, 'price tag' attacks weren't even discussed at their home.

The wife of one of the suspects arrested in connection with the arson in Duma has claimed that her husband could not have been involved as he was at home with her on the night in question.

"He was at home with me, he didn't do it. It's tough, my baby daughter has not seen her father for a long time," said A., the wife of the arrestee.

"They didn't even ask me for an alibi, it's not logical. I know 100 percent that he didn't do it. The same morning that I heard about the arson from my mother, she warned me of Arabs taking revenge," A. continued.

"My husband is in no way part of these organizations, he didn't know what they were talking about. At home we never discuss anything to do with price tag attacks."

Recalling the moment of her husband's arrest, A. said: "We were on our way to the yeshiva and the police jumped him. I took my camera out in order to record what was happening and they took it from me.

"I thought at first that it was a terror attack. The Shin Bet is trying to stitch together a case in order to close the matter and make people admit to things they didn't do," she continued.

As for the other arrestees, A. claimed: "I've heard their names before but I've never really met them."

Is it possible that your husband knew about them?

"I don't think he knows who did it, I don't think anyone knows – maybe just whoever did it. Maybe even Arabs did it, I don't know.

"We weren't part of this affair. We are here to settle the land of Israel and we believe that all enemies must be expelled from here. We will continue to settle across all of Israel," A. added.

Attorney Itamar Ben Gvir, who is representing the suspect, said: "The time has come for the courts to stop giving free reign to the Shin Bet. My client has been detained in the Shin Bet's cellars for too long, without being given his basic rights.

"An investigation like this is a shame on democracy," Ben Gvir added.
