Livnat Ozeri, whose parents were shot in a terror attack last week.

'My father got a bullet in the head – and started to talk'

Livnat Ozeri, a widow to terror and the daughter of Shaul and Rachel Nir who were shot in a terror attack last week, goes to the scene of the crime and speaks about the episode.

Livnat Ozeri, the daughter of Shaul and Rachel Nir who were shot in a terror attack near Avnei Hefetz last week, on Sunday went to the scene of the shooting and spoke about its aftermath.

"I thought that was it, my father was finished – and then he suddenly started to talk," Ozeri said.

Ozeri arrived at Orot junction, with MK Avigdor Lieberman and head of the Samaria Regional Council Yossi Dagan. Ozeri, a resident of Avnei Hefetz, is herself a widow of terror. Her husband Natanel was murdered by Palestinian terrorists in 2003, next to Kiryat Arba.

Last week's attack took place shortly after Ozeri's parents had been to visit her.

"I was at home and I heard a burst of gunfire," Ozeri said. "A public announcement said there had been a shooting at Orot junction. I left the house and asked which car had been hit. I realized it was them.

"I saw my father get out of the car with a bullet in his head and I got into the army ambulance with him. From there we were transferred at Taybeh to a regular ambulance with a doctor," Ozeri recalled.

"On the way to the hospital the doctor asked him questions. He said that it was a Hanukkah miracle. The bullet entered his skull but didn't reach his brain. Today we were told that there was no brain damage. It's a great relief," Ozeri continued.

MK Lieberman criticized the opening of the road to the settlement to Palestinian drivers: "The writing was on the wall. The main problem is that there is no deterrence, even after terrorists are caught. We need to demolish the houses of terrorists who didn't manage to kill anyone as well. We also need to start deporting them to Gaza.

"We don't need to wait until they've killed more Jews," Lieberman added.

Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, said: "We came here today in order to sharpen and strengthen our demand for security to be restored, to close access roads to the settlements to Palestinians and to reinstate checkpoints in Judea and Samaria.

"It's not because we have anything against Palestinians, but because we seek life. The political ranks have, following European pressure, decided to open this road to Palestinian traffic. Even though we warned, cautioned, explained, we were ignored," Dagan said.
