The month of August was hotter than usual at night in most of the country, according to data released on Wednesday from the Israel Meteorological Service.
According to Dr. Amos Porat, director of the Climate Service Division, "Daytime temperatures were near average or slighter above it. As in July, also in August there weren't significant heat waves."
According to the data, the nighttime temperatures in most of the country were higher than usual by one or two degrees Celsius. During the day, the temperatures were higher than usual along the coastline and in the north by half to one degree.
The first days of August were warmer than usual, and in most of the country, the maximum temperatures of the month were recorded then. In the Negev and valleys of the north, the temperatures from August 1 to 3 were 36° to 38°, in the Galilee from 40° to 41° and in the Jordan Valley from 42° to 44°.
