US Vice President Joe Biden went on the offensive last week, calling Donald Trump "stupid" and saying he wishes he could take the Republican presidential candidate "behind the gym" over lewd comments.
Enraged by Trump's claims that the US-led coalition launched its operation to recapture the ISIS stronghold of Mosul in Iraq just to make Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton look good, Biden said at a campaign rally on Thursday it was possible Trump didn't understand the damage he was doing.
"He plays into the hands of our enemies so uniquely. It's either he is so stupid that he doesn't understand—no, no, it's possible," Biden said in response to laughter from the audience, "It's possible he doesn't understand the damage he's doing."
At the rally in New Hampshire, Biden also criticized Trump's overtures to Russian President Vladimir Putin. "Think about how much damage has already being done by this continued romance with Putin," he said.
The vice president's fury did not subside on Friday, when he told an audience at a rally in Pennsylvania that he wishes he could physically confront Trump over offensive and lewd comments the Republican nominee made about women in 2005, which recently came to light.
"The press always asks me don't I wish I were debating him," Biden said. "No, I wish we were in high school—I could take him behind the gym. That's what I wish."
The VP went on to say, "What he says he did and does is the textbook definition of sexual assault."
"It's more than that," Biden continued. "He said 'because I'm famous, because I'm a star, because I'm a billionaire, I can do things other people can't.' What a disgusting assertion for anyone to make."
